The challenge

Two oversized shrubs hid the front of the house, the beds had no defined edge, and a narrow cracked walkway forced guests to walk single file. The house read dated from the street despite being in good condition.

Design approach

Open up the facade, widen the approach, and give the front yard structure. Curved bed lines with a low stone border, an evergreen backbone with seasonal color, and a wide flagstone walkway with a landing at the door.

What we built

Removed the overgrown shrubs, built low stone bed borders with curved lines, installed a wide flagstone entry walkway and landing, planted an evergreen structure layer with perennial color, laid fresh sod and added architectural uplighting.
